YWNA is made up of many skilled and enthusiastic volunteers who contribute to the vitality and success of the Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve. The YWNA committee is very grateful to the early birds, who survey the birds in a systemic way, giving us fresh insights and building a long-term picture of the feathered diversity of this unique project. Thanks in particular to Sue Forster and Tania Ireton for the reports, Danny Fog for the wonderful photos and Bob Tammik for coordination.
‘A major highlight was the continued presence of a family of 5 endangered Gang-gang Cockatoos feeding on gum nuts in Area D. They were previously recorded flying over Area A in May. These much-photographed birds (see YWNA Facebook) continue to delight visitors to the reserve with their loud ‘creaking gate’ calls.’
