Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve bird survey
8th February 2025
Saturday, 8th February started off cloudy, but the birds didn’t seem to mind! This was one of the highest bird counts we’ve recorded since July 2024.
A total of 455 birds across 32 species were counted—almost 34, but the Baillon’s Crake on the lake and a group of Galahs made a fashionably late appearance, missing the official tally.
Overhead flocks of lorikeets, Silver Gulls, Australian Wood Ducks, and Welcome Swallows added to the numbers, while a strong teal presence on the canal helped boost the count.
