September 20 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

You are invited this Friday 20th September at 12pm to a citizen science event to help launch the Great Southern Bioblitz for Bayside (which YWNA is running.) Two incredible guides Gio Fitzpatrick and Dan Kurek will help you look for and identify the smallest critters in the Reserve. YWNA has held monthly night surveys for little critters (Flyby Night) but never one during the day.

Using iNaturalist  you can help possibly identify newly found species for the Reserve.  All you need to do is download the iNaturalist app onto your phone and take a photo of your subject.

Please meet at the YWNA shed near the Glenhuntly Rd end of the reserve. Wear good shoes and dress comfortably for the outdoors. Rain is possible so dress warmly and bring a jacket. This is YWNA’s third year in taking part in the event which runs over 3 days.

Please do upload any sightings found in the Bayside area to iNaturalist over the weekend. These will automatically be uploaded to the GSB tally.
Photo by Dan Kurek of a bull ant queen! (Myrmecia pyriformis) who is a recent newcomer to the Chain of Ponds – and don’t worry she is not built to bite you!
